2022 African Youth Storytelling Contest

The African Youth Storytelling Contest 2022 is hosted by the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and the Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL) to share African stories to the world. Africa is a continent that has suffered from the single-story syndrome. The world only hears stories of disease, poverty, and corruption in Africa. But that’s not our true story.

African Youth Storytelling Contest 2022 is a contest that motivates Africans to tell true African stories.

The contest is looking for perspectives from Indigenous Peoples, local communities, pastoralists, women leaders, farmers, and community leaders on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Food systems and livelihoods
  • Land tenure and rights
  • Land degradation and restoration
  • Youth initiatives
  • Women’s leadership
