The Jemila Abubakar Essay Competition is an annual essay competition organized in memory of Miss Jemila Abubakar, the pioneer program manager of Asido Foundation who passed after a brief illness in July 2020. The Asido Foundation established the annual JAME competition in her memory, for undergraduates of all tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, Schools of Nursing etc.)

Eligibility Criteria for Jemila Abubakar Memorial Essay Competition 2025
- Applicants should be an undergraduate in any Nigerian tertiary institution;
- Applicants must be able to provide proof of studentship;
- Applicants must sign the Asido Foundation’s Unashamed pledge (asidofoundation.com/unashamed).
Prizes
- First Prize: N200,000
- Second Prize: N150,000
- Third Prize: N100,000
How to Apply
- The essay word count should range from a minimum of 750 and a maximum of 1000 words.
- The essay should be in the Microsoft Word Doc format.
- You are required to upload a scanned copy of a recent photograph, proof of studentship and a certificate of your unashamed pledge.
- Submitting an AI-generated essay and plagiarism in ANY FORM will lead to automatic disqualification.
