Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Requirements & Application Process

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is available to you as an intending postgraduate student looking for a scholarship.

Erasmus Mundus, Joint Masters scholarships are Master’s level study programmes that are high-level and integrated. They are planned and provided by a global collaboration of higher education institutions (HEI). They include at least three HEI from three countries, at least two of which must be the EU Member States or third-country participants in the Programme (previously called Programme Countries).

The EU hopes to enhance the excellence and internationalization of partner institutions by financing these jointly recognised Master’s degrees. Erasmus Mundus is a European mobility initiative open to university graduates from all around the world. It enables participants to get a master’s or doctoral degree from at least two separate universities in different countries.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships cover the duration of your study, research, placement activities, thesis preparation, and defence. The latter consists of at least two study periods in two countries, one of which must differ from your home country. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters offers a variety of study paths to achieve this requirement.

Selection Criteria

You must additionally provide the following documents, which are used in the EMHRPP’s Joint Admission Committee’s rating process:

  • a motivation letter in English that is properly structured and written clearly.
  • CV (Curriculum Vitae):
  • two letters of recommendation
  • More information may be found in the application checklist.

The Application Process

The University of Gothenburg manages application procedures and entrance requirement compliance (eligibility) exams.

The admission procedure is carried out by the EMHRPP’s Joint Admission Committee, which comprises the conveners and the administrative coordinator in Gothenburg, based on pre-determined criteria.

The list is broken into three sections:

  • academic ability (up to 40 points);
  • letter of encouragement (up to 20 points);
  • employment experience and letters of recommendation (up to 40 points).

The total of all three elements might result in a maximum of 100 points. The final score assigned to each applicant ranks the candidates (from the highest to the lowest final score).

Equal opportunity measures capable of encouraging the participation of students from disadvantaged groups will be given careful attention.

Conclusion

Both the programme application and the scholarship application processes overlap. You must submit the scholarship application and your programme application on the University Admissions website if you want to apply for the scholarship. If you do not upload the scholarship application form, your application will be processed as a self-funding applicant.
