The Graduate School of Engineering Science at Osaka University is pleased to announce the availability of MEXT-funded scholarships for international students pursuing Master’s/PhD programs in Robotics Engineering, starting in 2025.
The school features TWO MEXT-granted programs in English, targeted at international students wishing to pursue a Master’s / PhD Program in these areas. The applicants should be those who can also contribute to building up the future Robotics industries in their home countries as well as internationally, promoting close cooperation with the Japanese industry, academia, and government.

- Possess a broad spectrum of multidisciplinary expertise, rich comprehensive understanding, synthetic imagination, and transcultural communicability,
- Possess professional capability and skills in bioengineering and its related fields in science and engineering, and
- Contribute to establishing future innovative technologies to address and support super-aging society and related challenges in their home countries to also promote close international cooperation with Japanese societies, industries, academia, and government.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for the Osaka University MEXT-Funded Scholarships in Robotics Engineering 2025, applicants must:
- Be from a country that maintains diplomatic relations with Japan.
- As non-Japanese nationals are expected to obtain a resident (Student) visa upon enrollment.
- Have been born on or after April 2, 1990.
- For Master’s program, applicants must have:
- A bachelor’s degree from a Japanese university or expect to graduate before enrollment, or
- Sixteen years of formal education in another country or equivalent.
- Be recognised as academically equivalent to a university graduate by the Graduate School of Engineering Science.
- For Doctoral Program:
- Hold a master’s degree or expect to complete their master’s program before enrollment.
- Have at least two years of research experience and be recognized for research capability equivalent to a master’s degree.
- Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency with scores above 79 for TOEFL-iBT, 213 for TOEFL-CBT, 550 for TOEFL-PBT, or 6.0 for IELTS.
- Cultural Contribution: While studying in Japan, applicants are expected to engage in activities that foster mutual understanding between Japan and their home country
Benefits
Successful candidates Osaka University MEXT-Funded Scholarships in Robotics Engineering 2025 will receive substantial support throughout their studies. This will cover:
- Monthly Allowance:

- ¥147,000 for master’s students.
- ¥148,000 for doctoral students.
- Exemptions: Application fees, entrance examination fees, admission fees, and tuition at Osaka University will be waived.
- The scholarship period will last for the duration necessary to complete the respective programs.
