New York Times Paid Fellowship 2025-2026
Applications are now open for the New York Times Fellowship 2025-2026. This yearlong program is designed to nurture emerging journalists, equipping them for impactful careers at The Times and across the news industry.
The fellowship includes positions for reporters, editors, and visual journalists who will tackle both breaking news and in-depth projects. New for 2025, the program will introduce an A.I. Initiatives fellowship and a News Video fellowship. Fellows will work full-time within either the newsroom or the Opinion section.
Since 2019, nearly 200 fellows have contributed to The Times’s mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Former fellows are working in media organizations around the globe, producing illuminating reporting and storytelling on some of the biggest news events of our time.

Benefits of New York Times Fellowship 2025-2026
- Fellows are paid and receive benefits and gain access to training, speakers and a writing coach.
Eligibility Criteria for New York Times Fellowship 2025-2026
- Open to early career journalists;
- The most competitive candidates will be journalists who have newsroom or equivalent experience and a track record of strong, independent journalism.
- Applicants with more than five years of professional journalism experience beyond internships will not be considered.
How to Apply for New York Times Fellowship 2025-2026
The application window for the 2025-26 Times Fellowship is now open. All the fellows work full-time, in either the newsroom or the Opinion section. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 2nd, 2024.
