The Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship is the University of Guelph’s prestigious undergraduate entrance award for international students, valued at $42,500. Established in honor of Dr. Franco Vaccarino, it includes a summer research assistantship, mentorship, and guaranteed first-choice preference residence.

To be considered for the Franco Vaccarino President’s Award, you must:
- Be entering their first semester of any undergraduate degree program at the University of Guelph.
- Be an international (VISA) student.
- Have not previously attended a postsecondary institution.
- Hold an admissions average equivalent to at least 90.0% in a Canadian curriculum.
- Demonstrate significant leadership contributions to their school and community.
Note: Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada are not eligible.
Benefits
- The Scholarship period will run between September 2020 and September 2021 for the September set and;
- January 2021 to January 2022 for the January set.
- The scholarship will provide a full tuition fee waiver for the year, plus a stipend of £8,000 which will be paid over 12 months.
- Applicants who can evidence their refugee status will be considered a priority group, however the University may extend the invite to apply to further applicants.
Selection is based on:
- Academic excellence.
- Leadership contributions to school and community.
- Innovative and unique approaches to implementing change or improving life.
- Demonstrated potential for future leadership.
