ESIMSAD Intra-Africa Scholarship for African Students
Applications are now open for the ESIMSAD Intra-Africa Scholarship, a program designed for African students to pursue their academic goals in the field of Electrochemical Science and Innovative Materials for Sustainable Africa Development.
This scholarship is a collaborative effort between four African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and one EU Technical partner, and is funded by the European Union in partnership with the Africa Union.
The ESIMSAD Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of students and staff by facilitating mobility between HEIs.

This exchange program seeks to improve the quality and relevance of teaching and learning, ultimately contributing to the development of a more skilled and knowledgeable African academic community.
Eligibility Criteria
As an applicant, you must meet the following conditions for the ESIMSAD Intra-Africa Scholarship:
- Applicants are ONLY from African countries nationalities
- Applicants for scholarships in the fields of:
- Materials Science,
- Solar Energy Physics,
- Inorganic Chemistry,
- Materials Electrochemistry and
- Energy Technologies and
- Physical Chemistry under ESIMSAD project.
Scholarship Objectives
The program aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Enhance human capital development in Africa and promote intra-African collaboration, aligning with the goals of Agenda 2063.
- Improve the employability of students, preparing them for successful careers.
- Enhance the quality and relevance of higher education in Africa, ensuring it aligns with the continent’s development vision.
- Strengthen the modernization and internationalization of African higher education institutions, making them more competitive and globally engaged.
- Foster the development of a vibrant African higher education and research space, driving innovation and progress.
Scholarship Benefit
- Round-trip flight ticket and visa costs.
- Participation costs such as tuition fees, registration fees and service fees where applicable.
- Insurance coverage (including health, accident, travel, respectively).
- A settling-in allowance.
- A monthly subsistence allowance.
- A contribution towards the research costs associated with student mobility of 10 months or longer.
- Female master and doctoral scholarship holders will receive an additional allowance corresponding to one month’s subsistence per academic term.
How to Apply for ESIMSAD Intra-Africa Scholarship
All interested applicants should:

- Prepare all the necessary documents in a single pdf file using your full name to upload in the online application form.
- Upload separate signed ESIMSAD PREVIOUS INTRA-AFRICA AWARD DECLARATION.
