2022 King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve SDGs

The King Hamad Youth Empowerment award comes as an initiative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as an initiative aimed to empower young people and give them attention, encouragement, and motivation.

King Hamad Youth Empowerment award is a global award that comes as an expression of the firm faith of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, in young people’s potential to lead their communities, countries, and the world towards a better-shared future of peace and prosperity for all people on a healthy and sustainable planet, as envisioned by the world’s most ambitious plan to transform our world – The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The award recognizes young people’s endeavors to be effective and productive citizens, contributing to the welfare of their communities and environment, as well as institutions that improve the enabling environment and infrastructure for youth to make an impact.

Award Details Of King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award:

The King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award will be awarded in four different categories; governments, private sector, non-profit and
international organizations, and individuals. All of the applicants except for the government sector must be accredited and recognized by the concerned member state, which they are applying from.

The award should be launched during the ECOSOC Youth Forum in order to identify the nominations and assess and review their proposal by the judging committee.

Award Categories

  • Category I: Recognising youth contribution to achievement of the Sustainable Development
  • Category II: Recognising enablers of youth participation, action and impact for SDGs achievement.

Award Requirements of King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award:

Private Sectors Criteria

• Financial commitment to social impact and youth empowerment
• Inclusion of youth in leadership and decision-making
• Support and empowerment of youth employees
• Proven contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals
• Quality of programs and services provided to youth
• Diversity of programs and services provided to youth
• Use of innovation and creativity to reach youth
• Strength of evidence for program impact
• Number of youth reached annually
• Reputation and recognition in the field of youth empowerment
• Number of national and international awards received
• Must be a certified for-profit company
Non-profit Organizations and International

Organizations Criteria
• Inclusion of youth in leadership and decision-making
• Proven contributions to youth empowerment and the Sustainable Development Goals
• Quality of programs and services provided to youth
• Diversity of programs and services provided to youth
• Use of innovation and creativity to reach youth
• Strength of evidence for program impact
• Number of youth reached annually
• Reputation and recognition in the field of youth empowerment
• Number of national and international awards received
• Organizational health and sustainability
• Must be a certified non-profit organization

Individuals Criteria
• Proven contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals through academic,
professional, and/or voluntary accomplishments
• Examples of innovation, creativity, and thought leadership
• Strong reputation among peers, colleagues, and mentors
• Number of national and international awards received
• Number of youth societies and associations the individual is a part of
• Voluntary work completed benefiting his or her community
• Must be age 15 to 29

Reward

  • The King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award amounts to $20,000 in the Youth Action category and $25,000 in the Youth Enablers category.
  • All winners of the award will be invited to attend the presentation in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • Flights and accommodation costs of winners will be covered by The Ministry of Youth and Sports.
